Director's Message

Dear Friends and Benefactors,

Nestled among the serene hills and forests in Palghar District, the Jawhar and Mokhada talukas, are the homes to the indigenous Warli tribal community, a people whose lives are deeply rooted in nature, simplicity, hard work, and community living. Their world-renowned Warli paintings beautifully portray the harmony between humanity and creation. Yet behind this rich cultural heritage lies a daily struggle against poverty, water scarcity, inadequate education, unemployment, malnutrition, and limited access to opportunities.

Inspired by the vision of St. John Bosco, BSVS has been walking with the tribal communities for over sixteen years, believing that every child, every young person, every woman, and every farmer deserves an opportunity to live with dignity and hope.

Our journey began through the farsighted vision and tireless commitment of Fr. Anaclete D'Mello, SDB, who spent years securing the land and laying the foundation for this mission before dedicating fourteen years to building institutions and transforming lives. Together with many committed Salesians, staff members, volunteers, and generous benefactors, he sowed the seeds of a mission that continues to bear abundant fruit.

Since the establishment of our Don Bosco Technical Institute in 2010, thousands of tribal youth have received technical and vocational skills that have enabled them to secure dignified employment across India. Today, our mission has grown into a comprehensive development programme serving children, youth, women, farmers, and vulnerable families through education, skill development, child protection, women's empowerment, sustainable agriculture, livelihood promotion, health awareness, and community development.

Our sincere gratitude goes to our longstanding partners, Manos Unidas, Spain, and the Isabel Martin Foundation, Spain, whose unwavering trust and generous support have transformed countless lives. Through their partnership, thousands of tribal children have gained access to quality education, young people have acquired employable skills, women have become economically empowered, and farmers have embraced sustainable agricultural practices. Their solidarity has become a beacon of hope for the tribal communities of Jawhar and Mokhada.

While we celebrate these achievements, we also face new and urgent challenges. Climate change has made rainfall increasingly unpredictable, leading to severe water scarcity, declining agricultural productivity, and seasonal migration. Many young people continue to struggle to find stable employment despite their determination to build better futures. Farmers battle recurring droughts, shrinking water resources, and rising cultivation costs. These realities call us to strengthen our efforts in water conservation, watershed development, livelihood generation, climate-resilient agriculture, entrepreneurship, and advanced skill training.

As we enter 2026–2027, our vision is to create resilient tribal communities where every child receives quality education, every youth gains meaningful employment, every woman becomes financially independent, every farmer has access to sustainable water resources and modern farming practices, and every family can live with dignity, self-reliance, and hope.

This vision cannot become a reality without compassionate people like you.
