1. Empowering 1,000 Tribal Youth in Mokhada's Underserved Villages

BSVS (Bosco Samajik Vikas Sanstha) is dedicated to promoting sustainable development among tribal youth in the Mokhada region of Palghar district, Maharashtra. Through a targeted empowerment initiative, BSVS aims to improve living standards by focusing on sustainable livelihoods and household-based employment creation. The project has engaged 1,000 unemployed youth, with equal participation from both boys and girls, across 36 hamlets in nine Gram Panchayats within Mokhada taluka.

Objectives:

1. Promote Agricultural Productivity: Support youth and their families in increasing agricultural output through the cultivation of second crops like vegetables and fruits, thereby raising family income and reducing seasonal migration pressures.

2. Expand Livelihood Opportunities: Create alternatives for income generation by promoting agro-based and non-agro-based activities, providing tribal youth with diverse options for sustainable livelihood.

3. Youth Development and Village Engagement: Foster youth participation in community development by enhancing their potential through life skills, career development, and voluntary engagement.

Through these objectives, BSVS hopes to drive holistic development in these backward villages, empowering the youth to play a central role in local economic and social progress.

2.  Empowering 1,000 Tribal Youth in Jawhar Taluka, to Prevent Migration and Foster Leadership

In Jawhar taluka, the project takes a comprehensive approach by not only focusing on livelihood creation but also emphasizing the development of youth leadership. Participants are educated on the Panchayati Raj Act and their rights and entitlements as outlined in the 5th and 6th Schedule amendments, which fosters their active involvement in local governance. This educational component is crucial in empowering youth to take an active role in their communities, helping to improve the socio-economic conditions of families, reduce poverty, and decrease the incidence of migration among young people.

Through a range of targeted interventions, the project has successfully enrolled 1,000 underprivileged boys and girls, equipping them with essential knowledge and skills to engage in agriculture and agro-based ventures. By fostering entrepreneurship, the program not only promotes sustainable and permanent sources of income but also encourages active participation in village development initiatives. This dual focus on economic empowerment and community engagement is pivotal in transforming the lives of youth in Jawhar taluka, setting the stage for a brighter future for themselves and their families. incorporating the achievements from the remaining months to provide a comprehensive overview of the project’s impact.

3. Empowering Women Through Federations - A Pathway to Strength and Sustainability

The primary goal of this initiative is to provide group business opportunities to the established WFPOs, thereby creating employment sources within the villages themselves. This approach not only empowers women but also contributes to the local economy by fostering entrepreneurship among female farmers.

The actual business initiatives commenced in June 2023, following a thorough selection process for the WFPOs. This selection involved conducting meetings, providing training sessions, and organizing study tours to equip the participants with the necessary skills and knowledge for successful business operations. After careful consideration, 12 of the 30 FPOs were chosen to receive support in developing their business enterprises.

Through this process, the project aims to enhance the capabilities of these women's organizations, enabling them to effectively manage and operate businesses that will generate income and employment opportunities within their communities. By focusing on the empowerment of women through collective action and entrepreneurship, the initiative seeks to foster sustainable development and improve the overall socio-economic conditions of women in the villages.

4. Advancing Zero Budget Natural Farming and Fruit Tree Cultivation in Mokhada and Jawhar Blocks

Bosco Samajik Vikas Sanstha, has been at the forefront of implementing the Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF) initiative in Jawhar and Mokhada Talukas for the past five years. In a time when many farmers have become reliant on chemical fertilizers, our mission is to revitalize the principles of natural farming among tribal farmers in these regions. This is showcasing our commitment to sustainable agriculture and the empowerment of local communities. Through hands-on training, workshops, and support, we aim to enhance the livelihoods of farmers while preserving the environment and promoting biodiversity. Join us in celebrating the strides we have made toward fostering a more sustainable and resilient agricultural landscape.

5. Supportive Education and Empowerment Program (SEEP)

The SEEP aims to empower children from marginalized communities through educational rehabilitation, ensuring they achieve government-mandated minimum learning levels. This initiative addresses educational disparities and provides equal opportunities for all.

In addition to academic support, the program equips children with a functional understanding of child abuse and preventive strategies, empowering them to recognize and address such issues in their lives.

Furthermore, children are encouraged to engage with social issues by forming action groups and presenting their concerns to government authorities. This fosters a sense of agency and responsibility, enabling them to advocate for their rights and the rights of their peers.
