Director's Note

Dear Friends and Benefactors,

As I reflect on the journey of Bosco Samajik Vikas Sanstha (BSVS) in Walvanda, I am filled with gratitude and hope. Located in the heart of Jawhar Taluka, Palghar District, this region has faced numerous challenges. Historically marked by poverty and limited access to education and resources, Walvanda seemed to be a place where dreams struggled to take root.

However, the arrival of the Don Bosco Institute in Jawhar and Mokhada Taluka has heralded a new dawn. Under the devoted leadership of Fr. Anaclete D'Mello, who dedicated 14 years to uplifting the tribal communities here along with the dedicated staff. For six years before beginning his work, he was deeply involved in securing the land and dedicated his time to carefully overseeing each stage of development Fr. Anaclete’s unwavering commitment laid the groundwork for the transformative work we are now proud to continue. Along with Fr. Anaclete many young and old Salesians worked for the tribals to uplift their lives.

Since our inception, we have established a technical institute in 2010, empowering the youth with essential skills in various trades. This initiative has opened doors for countless young people, offering them the chance to secure better livelihoods and become agents of change in their families and communities.

Today, we extend our support to farmers, women, youth, children, and the marginalized. Our focus is on fostering a holistic approach to development—educating children about their rights and providing them the tools to overcome adversity and lead sustainable lives. We believe that every child deserves a chance to thrive, and we are committed to making that belief a reality.

As we look to the future, our vision is ambitious. We aim to broaden our educational initiatives, ensuring that children not only learn but understand their rights and potential. By doing so, we hope to break the cycle of poverty and empower future generations.
